Paycom Employees Give $20,000 to OKC's Maisha Project

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 11, 2021) – Paycom Software, Inc., (NYSE:PAYC), a leading provider of comprehensive, cloud-based human capital management software, presented a $20,000 check to Maisha Project, an international organization with headquarters in Oklahoma City dedicated to working with abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children in the rural villages of Kenya. Maisha Project will use the funds to improve school sanitation and bolster the organization’s food provision program.

“We are so grateful for the life-changing gift of education and health provided by these funds,” said Beatrice Williamson, executive director at Maisha Project. “Maisha means ‘life’ in Swahili, and with this significant donation from Paycom’s employees, we aim to see orphans and destitute children thrive.”

Growing up in a small village in Kisumu, Kenya, Williamson saw firsthand how impactful the gift of education can be and founded Maisha Project after receiving a sponsorship for grade school through college. Through this opportunity, Williamson came to Oklahoma, where she has made Maisha Project her life’s work.

“Today, I am so humbled that over 1,000 orphans and destitute children are growing up in our program and will never know what it feels like to go without food, clean water or access to an education,” said Williamson. “This is made possible because of our partners like Paycom, and we are forever grateful.”

Maisha Project aims to break generational poverty by providing children with crucial wellness and education. The nonprofit’s mission is to transform lives and empower communities by providing lasting solutions to address poverty, hunger, disease and lack of education. Investments in schools, health care, local entrepreneurs and community building projects help expand economic empowerment and create sustainability in all of Maisha Project’s initiatives.

“The donation by our employees will help further Maisha Project’s feeding programs, improve school sanitation in Kenya and provide much-needed essentials for over 1,000 students,” said AJ Griffin, Paycom’s director of government and community affairs. “We’re excited to be part of such an important cause and are proud to be able to help these villages in need.”

The donation comes as part of Paycom’s ongoing giving campaign in which employees have the opportunity to donate to a variety of local and national causes. Employees pay special attention to volunteer opportunities that strengthen families and communities.

Empowering communities is multifaceted, and Maisha Project has created numerous projects to help local villages. The nonprofit sends teams to Kenya each year to work side-by-side with the local communities as they build, teach and exchange ideas.
