20 Years in 2020: Chantel Sandersfield Hits a Milestone

Lacey Grim | March 20, 2020

What advice would you give a new employee for being successful at Paycom?

Be flexible! Things are always changing, so take advantage of the learning opportunities offered and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The only dumb question is the one you didn’t ask, but should have.

What is your favorite “Paycom Perk?”

Free swag!

What led to you staying at Paycom so long?

It’s never boring. We keep growing, and it’s neat to look back on how far we’ve come and exciting to see where we’re going. My job’s never the same every day. I enjoy seeing new development and hearing how it helps others.

Describe your journey at Paycom (what job did you start in, where did you end up and all the in between)?

My main responsibility was to set up the new clients that my boss was bringing to Paycom. At the time, there were only five other employees! I also answered phones, entered and processed payroll, printed payroll, stuffed  checks and helped with taxes. Basically, whatever needed to be done, I’d help. After we hired more staff, I focused on NCS (New Client Setup) for 9.5 years. Then my boss asked me to test what our developers were releasing. I’m now a QA Team Lead for the payroll portion of the system.

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Let’s go with Sandra Bullock.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

That’s a tossup between tacos or hamburgers and french fries!

What is your greatest accomplishment at Paycom?

Being here for 20 years and learning so much about our system.

What’s the one word you would choose to describe Paycom or yourself?

“Growth.”

Where did you grow up?

I am from Moore, Oklahoma. I attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK.

Where has been your favorite place to travel?

A cruise to Belize and Cozumel. I loved riding on the catamarans and seeing the culture.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, two dogs. Scout is a Belgian Malinois and Timber is a Plot Hound. Both dogs are rescues and super sweet.

What’s on your desk?

Paper and specs! And Paycom swag.

How does your position impact Paycom’s future?

My team gets to ensure that our new development goes out smoothly, is bug-free, beneficial to the user and creates a positive user experience.
