After completing rigorous physical testing and endurance workouts Tiffany McGowen, Paycom’s Director of Recruiting, was recently named okcBIZ’s 2014 Fittest Exec under 45.
“It is exciting because it shows that as a Paycom employee you can have it all,” McGowen said. “You can have a great career, spectacular family life and you get to have a healthy lifestyle as well. There are not many places where you can accomplish all of these things. For me, this award reconfirms why Paycom is an amazing place to be.”
Participants had to complete a fitness and nutrition component to see who would come out on top. Each entrant had to complete a form to ensure they had no risks prior to completing testing in areas including: resting heartbeat, resting blood pressure, cholesterol, flexibility, waist-to-hip ratio, body fat composition, cardiovascular endurance test, curl-ups, push-ups and exercise and nutrition.
At lunchtime, McGowen can normally be found participating in Paycom’s free bootcamp classes and follows that regiment by participating in 9Round on Saturdays. She also finds time to work out in her home gym several times a week.
As a recommendation McGowen says, “Find something you enjoy doing and accept that results do not happen immediately. Anything in life worth having requires hard work and determination, so commit and don’t quit.”
McGowen is a native of Broken Bow where she attended high school. She graduated from the Colorado School of Mines where she earned her bachelor’s degree in engineering. McGowen and her husband, Kendell, currently reside in Edmond with their son, Bradyn.
Eight individuals and three businesses were honored at a Feb. 27 fitness expo and awards program at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel.
