Recognize These Signs of Data Overload?

Businesses that succeed are flexible and adapt to change quickly. But if you’re stuck using multiple HR platforms and old processes, it’s easy to get so bogged down in data that it hurts your efficiency and bottom line.

Does this sound familiar to you? It’s a problem I see businesses run into all the time.

Here are a few ways excess data creates inefficiency:

It starts at the very beginning with onboarding, when new employees spend valuable hours on their first day of work filling out forms. And some companies still do this by hand! No matter how it’s done, the right time for paperwork is before the first day on the job.

Even more time is lost if you don’t have the right systems. If you use different technologies that can’t “talk” to each other, HR professionals have to waste time entering new employee information manually.

Then come the questions. Employees will always need clarification on policies like time-off requests, 401(k) benefits and dress codes. These questions are easy and often have a straight answer, but managers or HR professionals may take time to respond and are forced to take valuable attention away from other responsibilities.

Instead, empower employees to access and control their own data.

And what about expense reports? Employee receipts often end up crumpled, dirty or lost in the shuffle, and it’s up to HR to decipher the mess. This leads to a lot of frustration on both sides as HR tries to find the right information and employees wait for delayed reimbursements.

Let’s not forget employee training and development. Now more than ever, the importance of safety and compliance can’t be overlooked. How does your organization track mandatory trainings? Where do you record the proof?
