My Paycom Journey as a Transition Specialist Representative

Bonny Calfy | July 28, 2023

At Paycom, the potential for learning never ends! Angela is a transition specialist representative (TSR) at our Paycom sales office in Miami, Florida.

Although Angela was born in Miami, her family is originally from Lima, Peru. She visits them often and loves being enriched by her cultural background. Angela earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida International University in 2016 and worked in human resources at a major retailer after graduation.

In that position, she directly worked with HR and payroll compliance. That was when she decided to make the switch to working directly with what she calls the “all-stars of SaaS” at Paycom.

After being contacted by a Paycom recruiter, she began a deeper investigation into Paycom. “I felt that it was a great fit, and I have never looked back! What stood out to me with Paycom, specifically the Miami office, was the office culture created by the team that was there and those that interviewed me,” she said.

We spoke with Angela about her Paycom journey. Let’s see what she had to say:

What do you do in your role?

The great thing about being a TSR is that I have autonomy in my schedule when it comes to compiling an implementation schedule alongside our clients. You can find me working on planning implementations and reaching out across the aisle to our new client setup specialists at corporate in OKC for problem-solving or connecting in person with our sales representatives to walk through client details. You can also find me on-site, working directly with our clients and their employees and managers, walking them through product training and go-live of the Paycom system. Overall, the TSR role focuses on implementing new clients successfully into their Paycom accounts, while also ensuring metrics are met to set the client up for long-term success and high retention.

What’s your favorite part about being a transition specialist representative?

Being a resource to the new hires in our office. I love working one-on-one with them and watching them grow. I appreciate the complexities that every new client brings. It’s never redundant, there’s always a new challenge and it can be really rewarding when you see the client’s processes improve.

What is your favorite #PaycomPerk?

Although nothing beats the $1-per-payroll medical insurance, I really appreciate my department admins’ efforts to make us at the sales office feel like we are part of the big Paycom family. Even if we are far from corporate, we still form part of the Paycom family!

What advice do you have for aspiring employees?

If you’re interested in working in a fast-paced environment that will give you the transferable skills to take on more than base-level job responsibilities but will help you succeed in any challenge, look no further! I would advise that you come in hungry for working with people. This is a software company but also a people company. We have a big culture ingrained in listening to employee feedback, so come ready to be challenged, but also be recognized and given the tools to grow.

Everyone’s Paycom journey is unique, but Angela isn’t alone in her opinions about Paycom’s driven, supportive workplace. That’s why we received Best CEOs for Women and Best Career Growth honors from Comparably, one of the web’s top workplace review sites. Click here to learn more about these exciting accolades.
