Best Employer for New Grads: Kick-Start Your Career at Paycom

Abraham Mendieta | May 17, 2024

If you’re looking for a company that’s committed to your long-term growth, look no further.

Paycom recently earned national recognition from both Newsweek and Handshake for its dedication to supporting young professionals and recent graduates.

These awards underscore our commitment to emerging talent, but the proof is in the people who’ve propelled their careers forward. Let’s take a closer look at Paycom’s four internship programs, early career opportunities and the ways we give back to truly make a difference in the lives of our employees and communities.

From intern to full-time employee

Fetching coffee and making copies? Not a chance. At Paycom, interns receive practical experience working alongside some of the most talented professionals in the tech industry.

Our internship program is designed to convert students into full-time employees, with four unique paths providing skill development and training.

In 2023, we had more than 300 paid interns working across:

  1. Development
  2. Information Technology
  3. Corporate and Operations
  4. Sales

Jenna W. started as a Paycom intern in 2021 before quickly transitioning to a full-time employee. “My internship gave me real-world experiences and first-rate training,” said Jenna.

She’s since climbed her way to executive sales representative in just three short years. “From the beginning, it was clear that Paycom invests in its teams — both in learning and growth and through compensation and benefits. The Paycom perks help me live my best life in and out of work,” said Jenna.

Early career opportunities

In addition to semester-long internships, Paycom offers an array of early career opportunities.

Our short-term programs provide a chance for young professionals to connect with Paycom employees, build skills and advance their industry knowledge.

We’ll help you find a program that fits your needs:

  • Paycom Accelerating Your Career (PAYC): This virtual, two-week professional development program helps prepare job seekers for the recruitment process. We provide training in branding, resume building, interview prep and more! It’s open to anyone who wants to level up their job search and is offered several times a year.
  • Summer Engagement Program: In our free Summer Engagement Program, undergraduate and graduate students learn from industry experts and gain insight into job roles on our Technology, Operations and Sales teams. This program incorporates training, webinars and networking events to help participants develop professionally and gain the confidence they need to make decisions about their career. Sessions are led by Paycom recruiters and experts who are eager to share their insight and experience.
  • Sales Summit: Paycom’s Sales Summit prepares you to land the sales internship or full-time sales position of your dreams. This virtual program provides training in foundational sales skills and professional development. Participants work with Paycom employees and industry experts to get a clearer view of what it’s like to work in the human capital management industry.

A company that truly makes a difference

Today’s employees have a desire to make a difference in their workplaces and communities. But in a Deloitte study, only 20% of Generation Z said they believe they have an opportunity to positively influence their organization through social impact.

At Paycom, team members are empowered to make a difference. We believe we have a responsibility to our people, our community and the world in which we operate. We proudly demonstrate this in many ways, including:

  • 11 employee resource groups that connect employees with similar cultures, backgrounds or interests while helping foster community both inside and outside the organization.
  • Paycom’s innovative Better Conversations series provides a structured space for all employees to both listen and be heard.
  • We minimize our impact on the planet by powering our two corporate headquarters with 100% wind energy through the purchase of renewable energy credits.
  • We serve communities where our employees live and work. Paycom donated more than $2.3 million in 2023, with more than $220,000 of that coming directly from our employees. Over 350 organizations benefited from these donations across 37 states and Washington, D.C., championing causes like education, equity and food security.
  • In 2023, all Paycom interns participated in a day of service to connect with our surrounding communities. They spent the day volunteering with organizations such as food banks, donation stations and home revitalization.

Paycom is committed to creating a safe and inclusive workplace, giving back to our communities and minimizing our environmental impact. We’re proud to be one of the nation’s fastest-growing HR tech companies and always looking for talented young professionals to grow with us.
