A Decade of Growth: Jennifer’s Epic Journey at Paycom

The days of long-term tenure at a single company are dwindling. Shorter stays and greater mobility are on the rise, but Jennifer’s decade-long career at Paycom proves that investing in one organization can lead to unparalleled success and fulfillment.

With opportunities for advancement at every turn, Jennifer’s grown from a Recruiter to Paycom’s Director of Talent Acquisition and Talent Attraction in just 10 years.

We talked to Jennifer about her journey, the six positions she held along the way and how her experiences paved the way to a meaningful and lasting career at Paycom.

The spark that ignited her career

Jennifer was born and raised in Oklahoma City, the youngest of a tight-knit family of four. After graduating from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2007 with a degree in Human Resources, Jennifer jumped headfirst into the world of recruiting. She worked in various roles, including recruiting for restaurants and a tech startup before dabbling in HR training, onboarding and employee relations. “My heart has always been with working with the business to find the right talent and match individuals with the career of their dreams,” Jennifer said. So when she had the opportunity to join the Talent Acquisition department at Paycom, she couldn’t wait to get started.

Growing alongside the company

Jennifer has experienced exponential growth since, starting as a Sales Recruiter before progressing to Technical Senior Recruiter, Team Lead, Supervisor, Manager, Senior Manager and now her current position as Director of Talent Acquisition and Talent Attraction.

Throughout her journey, she’s faced challenges and overcome obstacles, but her determination and passion for her work have always shone through. Jennifer helped recruit a wave of tech talent after Paycom went public in 2014 and has seen the company grow from a startup to a global organization. “What an adventure it has been,” said Jennifer. “We do hard things; we can expect that coming into a growing, innovative company like Paycom. But the experiences I’ve garnered over the years have been absolutely rewarding!”

Jennifer’s biggest takeaway from her time at Paycom is to think outside the box. “You don’t always have to do things the way they’ve been done,” she said. “This thought process is what has allowed us to truly set Paycom apart and attract great talent.” She encourages aspiring employees to be ready to learn, unlearn and innovate, just as she has throughout her career.

Paying it forward

Jennifer is most proud of the success of those she helped hire. She’s witnessed team members walk through the door and grow into leaders, innovators and thought partners who have taken Paycom to new heights. But her favorite memories are the ones she’s shared with her team, from weddings and baby showers to promotions and life milestones. “These relationships aren’t just transactional. I have made some of the most valuable friendships of my life,” Jennifer said.

A decade of growth

Jennifer’s 10 years at Paycom have been a wild ride, but she wouldn’t trade them for the world. The support she’s received from leadership is part of what keeps her coming back: “I have appreciated the endless opportunities to innovate, the challenges they have allowed me to overcome and learn from, and the encouragement to give my best without compromising the most important things in life. They truly care about not just me at work but also my family and my passions.”

When asked what 10 years at Paycom means to her, Jennifer didn’t hesitate. “It means what I do matters,” she said, “and I can see how it contributes to the overall success of the organization.”

But if she had to sum up her decade at Paycom in just one word? Epic.
