Employee Spotlight: Meet Jiyoon

Lacey Grim | March 13, 2020

What are the top three things you enjoy most about your role?

My favorite thing about the client relations representative (CRR) role is that every day brings a new challenge. No meeting, no client’s situation is the same, and being able to collaborate with all different kinds of organizations has helped me grow my knowledge base tremendously. Another aspect of this role that I love is the relationships we build with our clients. Being able to get to know them as people beyond just their titles in the organization, and build on that over time, really makes meetings more enjoyable. They start to trust you and seek your guidance. I also love the fact that we can really change the framework of businesses and help them succeed in many different ways.

What qualities do you think make you most effective as a consultant for our clients?

Active listening and connecting on a personal level. I think that in this role, it’s easy to sit and listen to what our clients are saying about their processes, systems, etc., as though it’s just a casual conversation. It’s easy to assign a product to a problem they’re having. However, being able to make them feel comfortable enough so they share the pain points and go beyond just the surface is where you’ll find the good stuff. That’s what will help build trust and find a long-term solution, not just a single fix.

What has been your proudest moment so far at Paycom?

Helping a client go from, “I have no idea what I’m supposed to do,” to, “Wow this makes sense now!” My client had gone through a lot of turnover in the past 3 years, and no one had been properly trained on anything. Everyone was doing their own thing their own way. But after getting the right people in the room, and after picking apart each step of their process, I was able to get them on board and agree to utilize the system they had been reluctant to even touch. Now they love it!

Paycom is the kind of place where you …

… are in charge of your own success, but you’ll have the support to help get you where you want to be every step of the way.

What advice would you give to individuals considering a sales career with Paycom?

Do it. The people are motivated and encouraging, and I think it’s rare to find a company that provides so much opportunity so early on to its employees. You’ll learn a lot and continue pushing yourself to beat your best because it’s fun to succeed and see the support around you.

Where has been your favorite place to travel and why?

Prague. The people, the food, the music … everything was just lovely.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your free time?

Going to the beach, eating at new restaurants, visiting friends, hot yoga.

If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

In-N-Out cheeseburger and fries. Been a loyal fan since age 5!
